Help / Re: How to change currency symbol
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:17:38 AM »
Not sure if we could override that with using alias or not. I will try to test it with that method and see if that will get rid of the permissions string popping up. Than we can change the command for the pdxbal plugin and you can just link an alias to it. I am sure that someone out there has a better method, but as it stands, it seems I am the only one interested in helping you on this one. lol

Let me know if that works for you and what else would work for you to get this working. I am working on a few other plugins when I have the time so just be patient with me and we will get this working for you. ;)

Sorry about that. Had too many lines there.
I fixed it. It still has a small issue I will need to work out.
You will need pdx.bal in your perms. If rainbow.bal is also true than the original bal will still show up. If rainbow.bal is false, than it will still give the you do not have permissions line. I can't get that part to work just right. When I have more free time from work I will try to sort that out. But as for now, it will at least work without popping up everytime someone types. It now will only pop up like it should with the /bal command. Sorry I took so long to get back to you.

Here you go. Just drop it in your plugins_mod folder and let her go. You shouldn't need any perms but if you do, try pdxbal.quest

It should now say "You currently have: ### Quest Points"

I think I will develop this a little bit further and add some other things to it. Until then....

Let me know if that helps and if it does, a thumbs up would be nice. Enjoy! :D

I was thinking about it after I posted but I wasn't home. If I used /bal for the command and so long as the rainbow.balance node is disabled than yeah it would work. Let me see if I can pull that together for you. Who knows, this simple situation could be needed by others as well and I think I could expand on it a little too.

This is actually possible. You will need to have aliases installed. Your script would be a new command script to simply send a message to the player when they type the command that you designate on player input. You would then have to remove the rainbow.balance node and give them the new perm from your aliases plugin so that it is used.
This would have to be on a per need basis though. I don't really know how to do this with an exchange in a yml or ini file.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. If you don't know how to write your own plugin, I would be happy to help if it would be of use for you with using the aliases plugin.
I am still a newb at scripting, but this should be simple enough.

Your output line would be something like this:
Code: [Select]
plr.sendMessage(ChatColor.DARK_GREEN + "You currently have " + ChatColor.DARK_RED + plr.getEconomyBalance + " Quest Points"());
That should work for the most part. You would have to change the message to suite your needs. But it would not apply to any other money plugin, just for the /bal command.

Do you need these "quest points" to actually tie into something or is it just for aesthetics? If its just for Aesthetics, than this should be a pretty simple script to write out.

Off Topic / Re: A question for the developers of "the new Rainbow"
« on: December 14, 2014, 10:17:12 AM »
I really do not understand what the fuss on all of this is. If DiW is not currently active, why not give support to this "New Rainbow" and than when or if DiW returns, the two can be merged. With this idea in hand, it would keep Rainbow alive and allow for faster development. There is a lot that is needed in the line of API. I do not feel that the BukkitBridge is a viable alternative to native plugins and thus, Rainbow is in need of further development. This is not a small project and even if DiW was here, he should want all the help he can get.
Rainbow does not need a new site, Rainbow does not need a "New Rainbow", Rainbow needs everyone to work together and make this great project even better.

Help / Re: Server won't load plugins
« on: December 13, 2014, 11:26:01 PM »
Your plugins should all load before this line:
[03:46:11] [SVR/INFO]: Rainbow Mod v50: Simulating version 1.8, MC Ver #47

They do not go into the log file either. So the only way you can see that they are loaded is by scrolling up and looking in your console or type /plugins

Help / Re: trying to start server but....
« on: December 13, 2014, 11:17:03 PM »
You are running a 32bit version of java on your 64bit machine. 32bit will not allow you to use 2gig of ram for the server. Either change your ram from Xmx2000m to Xmx1024m or or update your java to a 64bit version.

Your runit.bat is correct and good if you are using a 64bit, but your not and that is why you are seeing: "C:\program files (x86)\java\jre7\bin\java.
exe" -Xmx2000m -Xincgc -jar rainbow.jar nogui

This says that your script is finding your jre in the "Program Files (x86)" This is where 64bit systems store all 32bit programs.

Hope that helps.

Plugin Development / Economy Balances

I need more info on working with the economy. Preferably ways to keep it from going into the negative. Wish I could explain better, but if anyone has any good methods for handling the economy, it would be much appreciated.

The community drive here is kind of stale. But its not the lack of users. There are plenty of owners coming along to use Rainbow.
With the Spigot release and the upcoming Sponge, people will be jumping around and floating here and there.
What Rainbow needs is dedicated plugin devs like yourself to keep putting out new plugs and API's. Rainbow is a project is it not? And as with any project, it requires community involvement, but at the same time, you can't expect it to be constant. I know I just recently got involved here, but I have been playing with the idea of Rainbow and watching the development for a little while now. Rainbow is a beautiful thing... if it wasn't, would everyone still go out to look for it after the rain?
